Back from the North
Montreal was great. A good time was had by all.
The main objective was eating at our favorite spots and seeing snow. We made it do the Chinese Garden, St-Hubert, and of course Schwartz’s, so we were happy. On Sunday it snowed about 18 inches, so we stayed indoors/underground and went shopping at la compagnie de la Baie d’Hudson, aka the Hudson’s Bay Company. They have a giant 8-story store in downtown Montreal.
I tell you what, a man like me can get totally Euroed up if he wants to spend a few bucks. I had the 4-day beard going, so for about $100 I could have bought a pair of Adistars and a skintight warmup jacket with a popped collar and, bada bing, I could have looked like your average Juergen or Jean-Pierre.
Also, EVERYONE IN CANADA HAS MY GLASSES.
On the way home we went through JFK and sat for three hours too many. Yeah, it’s a delay, but it could have been worse. There’d been a snowstorm the previous day, for God’s sake. Some Vladislav Doucheovich was sitting behind my dad complaining about how it was all Delta’s fault that there had been a snowstorm, or some such. The flight attendant was from Buffalo, and you know how they do. . . her voice made her sound dumber’n a sack of hammers but she put him in his place. I was impressed. Score one for Buffalo. Anyway, we eventually got to Raleigh.
