So I am taking this DELTA class, which is called something like “Personal Finance, or How to Not Be the Fool Whose Money Parts From Him.” It’s a video class. So I sat there in bed last night, listening to Dr. Huggard’s anecdotes about old folks who die of malnutrition because they can only afford cat food, and I was writing notes on the Tablet PC that Uncle Jason requisitioned for me. And it was wonderful. I scanned in the 400-page stack of class notes, then imported those PDFs into Windows Journal, then wrote on them just like they were paper. Delightful. I see the point of the tablet PC like never before.

In other news, it was raining earlier without any noticable rain clouds in the sky. It was sunny. Weird.

Oh, and T minus 4 days until Season 1 of the Dukes of Hazzard is released on DVD.

i got news for you

HOT: News 14 Carolina web site
REASON: It freaking works.

NOT: WRAL’s web site
REASON: It sucks. Loads halfway and freezes. Used to be homegrown and useful. Now it’s prepackaged, cookie-cutter, just like a thousand other TV stations. For a station that is technologically ahead of its time and offers good programming, it is amazing how much the web site blows.

you’re lucky, you know

It’s Mother’s Day.

Call ‘em if you’ve got ‘em.

and now you know

Item! Did you know that Alan Thicke — you best know him as the dad on ‘Growing Pains’ — wrote the theme songs to ‘The Facts of Life,’ ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ and ‘Diff’rent Strokes?’ Well, he did.

Did you know that also knocked up Mrs. Garrett, the old broad on ‘The Facts of Life?’

Did you know that that last thing was not true?

I bet you did.
